THE GUANS (This article is directly sourced from my book: Know Ghana Better) The Guans believe themselves to be a branched family with the Akan tribe (not all of the Guans though). They migrated from Egypt and through several linguistic zones got to Mali. Their territory extended from parts of present day Mali to present day Senegal. They formed clans and the clans were Ndenye, Shuoyi and Le. The clans were formed for purposes of defence and for other linguistic and cultural functions. After some years, a group of Guans who were at present-day Senegal and members of the Shuoyi clan called the Ngbanye set off to Ghana. Perhaps there was a pre-meditated decision by the Ngbanye and the other Guans to find a more suitable settlement. It is also believed that the leader of the Ngbanye sought the assistance of a soothsayer who foretold him that he will be great in a foreign land. The Ga lessons are highly patronised as compared to its Dangme counterpart. In the future, there is likely to be a revision due to the statistics that would be available then. Many ask how lessons are structured on this channel because they do not seem to follow any order and appear to be scanty. THE KPELE & KLAMA DEITIES OF THE GA-DANGME PEOPLE OF GHANA

They speak the Ga and the Dangme languages respectively. Ga and Dangme are closely related languages which have diverged over time due to influences from neighbouring Guan, Akan and Ewe languages; not to forget the grand influence of English, Dutch and Portuguese on these two beautiful languages. Kpele  is the main religion of the Ga-Dangme people. There is the annual celebration of Kpele which is called  Kpelejoo  in Ga and  Kpele domi  in Dangme and they mean the same thing. THE PEOPLE OF BANDA (LIGBI & NAFAANA PEOPLE)

  The Banda are located in the present day Brong-Ahafo region of Ghana. They are a group of Senufo speakers who originally descended from the Mande of Senegal and Mali. According to Banda history, they were once part of the Songhai Empire in Mali which attests to the languages they speak. The Banda comprises two main groups of people: Nafaana and the Ligbi (Ndwera) people. Their languages are of the same route but due to the different histories they have; their languages might have diverged in the course of time hence they are not closely related. The ancient Guans, especially those of the Shuoyi clan were in contact with the Mandes before they came to Ghana hence a link could be established among them. NAFAANA: Nafaanra is a Senufo language spoken in the Bono Region by the Nafaana people. Nafaana is the name of their tribe and the community but Nafaanra is the name of the language they speak.
